ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER:
Gregory S. Babe was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer Corporation and Senior Bayer Representative for the United States and Canada in October 2008. In addition, he is the President and CEO of Bayer MaterialScience LLC - a position he has held since July 2004. Since joining Bayer in 1976, Mr. Babe held several management positions of increasing responsibility, including manager of the Brunsbüttel, Germany, facility; director and general manager of Hennecke Machinery, then a unit of Bayer’s Polymers Division in Pennsylvania; vice president of corporate quality; and director of a national program to implement Bayer’s enterprise resource planning system. He was named senior vice president of information services in 1999 before being named president and CEO of Bayer Corporate and Business Services LLC in 2003.
Mr. Babe is the executive chair of the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® Board Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Manufacturers, the Society of the Chemical Industry and the Business Higher Education Forum. In Pittsburgh, he serves on the Allegheny Conference on Community Development’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and he serves on Duquesne University’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Mr. Babe is also a member of West Virginia University’s Engineering and Computer Science Education Enterprise Advisory Committee.
A native of West Virginia, Mr. Babe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University. He is married, has four children and lives in Mt. Lebanon.

In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that I report the passing of David C. Evans, CLU, ChFC. Dave passed away at the age of 60 on Friday, October 2, 2009. Dave was an active member of the Pittsburgh financial services community for many years. Most recently he was serving on the NAIFA-Pittsburgh Board of Directors as National Committeeman, a position where he worked with NAIFA toward our industry's legislative advocacy efforts for the past eight years.
The Membership of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals extends its condolences to Dave's family.
